Head-up Display

Projecting readings onto the windshield, mirroring the image and choosing what appears.

The Head-up Display shows a few readings full screen so that they reflect on the windshield. The feature works at night, with the phone lying on the dashboard and the screen facing up.

  1. Place the phone and turn mirroring on

    Lay the phone on the dashboard, screen facing up, in front of the steering wheel.

    Tap the icon in the top bar to turn mirroring on. It flips the image horizontally, and that is what makes the reflection on the glass read the right way round. The icon is dim when mirroring is off and lit when it is on.

    The result is best at night or in tunnels. Under strong sun the reflection barely forms, and no app setting makes up for that.

  2. Show and hide the bar

    Tap anywhere on the screen to show or hide the top bar. With the bar hidden, only the readings stay on screen.

  3. Choose the two readings at the top

    In Settings, HUD, set the Top-left sensor and the Top-right sensor. Speed always stays in the center, in large type.

    Prefer little information: two big numbers can be read at a glance on the glass, four small ones cannot.

  4. Choose the style and the colors

    In Style, choose between the three numbered layouts: a dial with a ring, a digital panel with bars and plain digital readout.

    In HUD colors, the Auto mode follows the app theme. In Manual you set the Main color, the Aux text color and the Background color. Try the combinations in your own car, at night, because the result depends on the glass and on any tint film.

  5. Turn the speed alert on

    Speed limit alert highlights the number when the speed goes above the limit you set.

If something goes wrong

Check four things: whether mirroring is on, through the icon in the top bar, whether the phone is lying on the dashboard with the screen facing up, whether the surroundings are dark and whether the screen brightness is at maximum.

Windshields with dark tint or a reflective layer cut the reflection down a great deal, and no app setting makes up for that loss.

Speed and engine speed come from the car. With no adapter connected, the HUD shows only what the phone measures on its own. Connect the adapter through the Connection screen.

The HUD asks the system to keep the screen awake while it is open. If it goes dark anyway, plug the charger in and check whether the phone is in battery saver mode.
