Cars do not announce everything they answer. Automatic sensor discovery tests advanced sensors from our database directly on your vehicle's ECU and shows what came back with an answer.
The screen opens from the floating button of Sensor Profiles, and the app marks it as Experimental.
Get the car ready
Park, turn the ignition on without starting the engine and connect the adapter. The probe is a long sequence of commands to the ECU, and it needs the module awake and the car stationary.
With no adapter connected, the app says so and does not let you start.
Start the scan
Tap Start scanning. The screen starts showing Scanning…, and results appear as the ECU answers. On the free plan the app first opens a confirmation screen to unlock the feature.
Sensors saved in an earlier discovery are not probed again: each round looks only for what has not been saved yet.
Review what came up
At the end the list sits under the heading Review and pick what to keep. Not every result is useful: a value that never changes, or that varies with no relation to how the car is being used, probably does not match the suggested name.
Select the sensors one by one, or use Select all.
Save the selection
Tap Save selected. The sensors go into the scanned PIDs profile and start appearing on the reading screens, like any other.
If you leave without saving, the app warns that the results will be lost and the discovery will have to be run again.
