Register a vehicle

Use the Search make... field to filter the list and tap the make. On every screen of the wizard, Next moves to the following step.

If the app has been connected to this car before, the Auto-fill from OBD button appears on the screen. It identifies the manufacturer from the stored VIN and shows the make it found just below. One tap fills the field in.

The button does not require the adapter to be connected at that moment, and it stays hidden when the correct make is already selected.

Search by name and choose the exact model of your car.

If the exact model is not in the list, type the name in the search field and tap the first row, which repeats exactly what you wrote. Registering it that way is better than accepting a similar name: a similar name does not mean the same car, as with Corolla and Corolla Cross, and the model is what the app uses to look for the manufacturer's advanced sensor profile. A neighboring model loads the wrong profile, which harms the sensor readings and the vehicle diagnostics.

When the model is typed by hand, or when the vehicle is not a car, the Vehicle type picker also appears. Check the value before moving on.

Select the fuel type. This choice decides which consumption units appear later: a plug-in hybrid follows the liquid and the electricity separately, without gathering the two into a single number.

Year is required. Engine, Gears, Tank (L) and Weight (kg) are optional, but they feed calculations: without the tank capacity the app does not estimate range, and without the weight some calculated sensors lose precision.

If you do not know one of those numbers, look your car's spec sheet up on the internet. You can also move on and complete it later: in My Garage, swipe the vehicle card to the right and the same wizard reopens with the data already filled in.

The Available profiles screen shows what will be installed, including the Advanced OBD sensor profile when one exists for your model.

If the app says there is no advanced profile in the catalog yet, move on: extra sensors can be looked for later through sensor discovery.

When the make has diagnostic profiles in the catalog, the same screen shows OBD profile for diagnostics, used by the fault code scans, with the Suggested tag on the profile that matches your car. Change profile opens the list so you can choose by the generation and the engine of the vehicle; the description of each profile lists the models it is known to cover.

The Nickname is optional and becomes useful when two vehicles would end up with the same name in the list, such as two cars of the same make and model. It also serves to identify whose each vehicle is or what it is for: the work car, the one belonging to someone else in the house, the rented one.

The nickname does not replace the model, it appears next to it. Vehicle pickers and filters show Model · Nickname on every screen that separates data by car, from trips and fill-ups to expenses, reminders, reports and backup.
