Refueling

Entering a fill-up, reading the consumption statistics and comparing them with the trip computer.

The Refueling screen has two tabs: Statistics, with the numbers worked out, and Refuels, with the list of entries.

This is the screen the car's real consumption comes from, measured from full tank to full tank.

  1. Enter a fill-up

    Tap the green floating button. The form starts with the Expense type, Personal or Work, followed by Date, Time and Odometer. Then come the Fuel, the quantity and the Total.

    The decisive field is Full tank?. Marking a full tank is what closes the interval of the consumption calculation; without it, the app has no way to close the period.

    Service station, Address, Payment method, Notes and Attachments are optional. The Service station field opens the Places list, where the stations you use are saved with a name and an address to be reused.

    On saving, the app may ask Update vehicle odometer?, to keep the car's registration current with the value you entered.

  2. Record more than one fuel

    The + Fuel button adds another line to the same fill-up, up to three in total. That is what happens on a flex or bi-fuel car when you top the tank up with two products.

    Each line has its own full tank marking.

  3. Say when you forgot to record one

    Select I missed previous fill-up when there was an intermediate fill-up that was never entered.

    The marking matters: rather than working out a wrong consumption figure with liters missing, the app closes the interval and leaves that stretch out of the average.

  4. Read the statistics

    The Statistics tab gathers Average consumption, Cost, Per day, Spent this month, Last refuel and the Next refuel forecast.

    Anomaly detected appears when an entry stands out from the others, which usually points to an odometer typed wrong or to a full tank marked on a partial fill-up.

  5. Compare with the trip computer

    OBD x Fill-up comparison shows side by side the consumption reported by the car and the consumption worked out from the liters you put in.

    The car's column only appears when the recorded trips cover enough of the distance of that interval. Below that threshold the comparison would come from too small a sample, and the app stops showing it.

  6. Compare ethanol and gasoline

    In markets that offer both fuels, enter the two prices and tap Ethanol vs Gasoline. The app says which one pays off based on the real consumption of your car with each, rather than on the seventy percent rule.

  7. Correct an entry

    On the Refuels tab, swipe the row to the right to edit and to the left to delete, with a confirmation.


If something goes wrong

The calculation runs from full tank to full tank, which is why it needs two fill-ups marked as full tank to close the first interval. Before that there is no distance and no volume to divide.

The most frequent cause is the odometer. Check the value of the last entry on the Refuels tab: one digit too many or too few shifts the whole average. The app usually flags those cases as Anomaly detected.

The second most common cause is having marked a full tank on a partial fill-up.

The difference is expected, usually a few percent. The trip computer estimates consumption from injection time and is calibrated by the manufacturer, almost always optimistically. Pump-to-pump measurement counts the liters you actually paid for.

The comparison needs the recorded trips to cover enough of the distance of that interval. If you drove a lot with the app closed or without an adapter, the sample is small, and the app drops the column rather than showing a fragile number.

The app does not mix the products. Liquids, LPG, CNG and electricity are followed separately, and each fuel line of the fill-up goes into its matching category. Check that the Fuel field of each line has the right product.
