Main sensors

Choosing where the app reads fuel level, odometer, ethanol, fuel rate and speed from when the car does not answer the standard sensor.

Some cars do not answer the standard sensor for fuel level, odometer, ethanol, fuel rate or speed, but expose the same value through a manufacturer sensor. The Main sensors screen, opened from Settings, lets you choose the source of each of those values. The choice is stored per vehicle.

  1. Choose the vehicle

With more than one car registered, the picker at the top decides which vehicle's sources are shown.

  2. Change the source of a sensor

Each row shows one of the main sensors, such as Odometer source, Speed source, Ethanol source or Fuel rate source, with the current source and an explanation of when to change it. Tap the row to open the list of candidate sensors, marked as standard, advanced or calculated, choose one and tap Save.

When every value uses the standard sensor, the screen says so and there is nothing to change. A source that stopped answering is marked as not responding, and the app falls back to the estimate.

  3. Fix a stuck fuel level

When the level sensor keeps reporting the same value while fuel has been used, the screen shows the Fuel level may be stuck warning, with the reported value and the level the app estimates. Use the estimate changes the source to the estimated level; Dismiss keeps the sensor.

If something goes wrong

If the screen shows the stuck level warning, tap Use the estimate. Otherwise open the fuel level row and choose another source, if a manufacturer sensor is available. Installing the advanced profile in Sensor Profiles widens the list of candidates.

Only active sensors of the vehicle that report the same kind of value enter the list. Install the manufacturer's advanced profile in Sensor Profiles or run sensor discovery, and check in Supported sensors whether the sensor you want is active.

That is the expected situation on most cars: the ECU answers the standard sensors and there is no source to change. The screen only becomes useful when one of those values comes out wrong or blank.
