Building an instrument panel of your own with the sensors you follow.

The Panel is a board you build yourself: the sensors that matter to how you drive, in the order and the format you choose. Unlike Live Data, nothing here is automatic, everything depends on your choice.

  1. Enter edit mode

    Tap Edit panel. The first time, the app shows the Instructions: Add a sensor with the plus icon, Edit by sliding the card to the right, Remove by sliding the card to the left and Reorder by tapping one card and then another, to swap their positions.

  2. Add a sensor

    Tap the plus icon. The Add sensor list carries the readings that are not on the panel yet. When they are all there, the app says there are no more sensors available.

  3. Choose the format of each card

    Slide a card to the right to open Edit sensor. In Chart Type there are six formats: Text, Circle, Semicircle, Vertical bar, Horizontal bar and Line (history).

    Text serves most readings well. The line suits what matters as a trend rather than as an instant value, such as a temperature climbing slowly.

  4. Tune each card

    Still in Edit sensor, Display name changes the label, and Minimum indicator and Maximum indicator set the chart scale. Highlight picks the card out with a colored border, and Alert warns you when the value leaves the range between Lower threshold and Upper threshold.

    Show value in the center places the number in the middle of the card; off, it sits smaller and lower down. Value format sets the decimal places. Card size chooses between Full width, Half width and Third width. Chart color has seven options, and Replicate color to all applies the choice to the other cards. The Preview shows the result before you save.

  5. Reorder

    Still in edit mode, tap one card and then another to swap their positions. The readings you glance at while driving belong at the top.

  6. Leave edit mode

    End edit mode so that the panel goes back to updating normally. Deleting an item asks for confirmation before it is applied.

If something goes wrong

The app says so when every available sensor is already on the panel. To widen the options, install the manufacturer's advanced profile in Sensor Profiles or run sensor discovery.

The panel reads from the car and depends on the adapter being connected with the ignition on. Check as well that the screen did not stay in edit mode, which suspends updating.

Many sensors on the panel mean many requests per second on the same bus. Remove the readings you do not look at and keep the Line format for the cases where the trend really matters. The Panel Refresh Interval, in Calibrations, lowers the processing load on slower devices.

Add it again with the plus icon, in edit mode. Deleting from the panel erases neither the sensor nor its history, it only removes it from the board.
